From dime size to nickel and quarter size dents on virtually all metal panels. It is not usually the chosen method to repair bigger dents.
Small dents can be repaired and totally removed by PDR technicians who gently massage, hammer or press the dented area from the back to restore it to its original shape.
Crease dents with paint chips are more difficult to remove 100% effectively. Most dents are able to be pulled out to about 97%, again, pending the type of dent and location of dent. Some may require Paint repair in which the owner of the car will require two technicians; one for paintless dent removal and the other for paint touch up. Paintless dent repair is not possible for plastic, composite, or fiberglass body panels.
