EF English First Provides Franchise / Waralaba in many country, especially in Indonesia, EF provides franchise in Education Industry. EF English First is a division of the language and educational travel company, EF Education. It is a network of English language schools offering English language courses in non-English speaking countries. Courses are offered to all ages and skill levels. EF Education traditionally has its main focus on studies abroad and language travel. EF English first, in contrast, allows students of all ages to learn English from native speakers without going abroad.

In 1992, EF English First opened its first school in China and its network of schools now consists of more than 500 schools in the Middle East, Asia Minor, Russia, China and South East Asia. Whilst the early model was to open as many franchises in as many locations as possible; since 2004 the organization has stopped opening new franchises, reduced the regions it operates in and started opening “EF owned” schools which are targeted to specific groups like children or young professionals.

The organization has done particularly well in China where it has been awarded the contract of the Language Training Services Supplier of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Glamorous as this may sound it means EF will be training judges and other support staff for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing. EF appears to be concentrating its efforts for expansion in China and has placed its head office and academic development team in Shanghai.

EF has also done particularly well in Indonesia, although this is more to do with the industrious nature of the local franchise owners and market conditions at the time of expansion in this region. Franchise owners in the region quickly realised the value of keeping their foreign staff happy and this has contributed to a degree of stability in the vast majority of the franchise schools.

In the English language teaching industry, EF has created a strong brand and has tried to create the image of being the largest and most innovative English language company. This image has attracted some criticism from what is traditionally a small, cottage style industry. With the vast majority of its schools in emerging economies, EF English First tends to attract newly qualified teachers and runs a program which sponsors candidates to take industry standard qualifications in exchange for a 12-month commitment to working with them.

EF Education is the world’s largest private education company that specializes in language training, educational tours and cultural exchange.

How we began: EF Education was founded in 1965 by a young Swedish entrepreneur named Bertil Hult. Our first office was modest and our concept was straightforward: take Swedish high school students to England to learn English. It was a simple enough business idea on-site language and cultural studies but one with an enormous future.

Who we are: Four decades later, EF Education is the world’s largest private education company, with a group of ten subsidiaries and non-profit organizations centered around language learning, educational travel and degree programs. Today, EF has over 26,000 employees, teachers and volunteers. With offices and schools in 51 countries, EF has turned the world into a global classroom.

Where we are going: EF’s mission is more timely than ever. Never before has it been so important to understand diverse ways of life and other modes of expression. EF remains committed to breaking down barriers of language, culture and geography by providing the highest quality educational experiences-whether that’s in another country, around the corner, on or the internet.
